winter
winter in this sleeping city
sidewalks covered with snow
houses huddled close together
trying to keep warm in a row
smoke coming from their chimneys
their heads all covered with snow
and from their eyelike windows
comes a warm comforting glow
never have i heard such silence
as i make foot prints in the snow
and in my solitude i warm myself
with memories, of a love, i use to know

it was
it was
a fleeting feeling
a transitory thought
a passing impression
a sense of something
a longing for
a loving of
i know not what
and yet
for a moment
it was mine

the sight
the sight
of snowflakes
so white
falling
in the night
falling
so soft
and so light
some sparkle
like starlight
so bright
some floating
and frolicking
in flight
before they
alight
on the ground
and clothe
the world
with white
snowflakes
so white
falling
in the night
such
and so much
a delight

does any child know
does any child know
that the last time they
put their toys away
never to take them
out again to play
was the toys' final day
that the life of a toy
is in a child's eyes
and when a child stops play
the toy dies

sometimes beauty
sometimes beauty
can be so unbearable
cause sorrow so severe
despair so near unto death
feeling the unfathomable
profound sense of loss
of someone or something
never known yet always loved

i don't fear death
i don't fear death
for death is the doorway
from this dreamworld we roam
to where we awake
to reality where heaven
is our everlasting home

prayer
prayer
may come some day
when you understand
that in His hand
you fall and stand
and by His hand
lovingly are broken
in brokenland
