                                             may God have mercy on all the poor
                                             trying to live in baltimore
                                             taxes so intolerably high
                                             the impoverished never get by
                                             afraid of criminals in the street
                                             afraid of policemen on the beat
                                             afraid of kids that beat for fun
                                             afraid of drivers that hit and run
                                             all the criminals in city hall
                                             are there to steal and break the law
                                             anarchy in the city courts
                                             unfairness and injustice of all sorts
                                             may God bless all the poor
