the emergency room
In the emergency room
Heart palpitating
Chest pains
Nausea cold sweat
Shaking wildly
Can't breathe
Room spinning
My mind spilling out
All over the walls
And floor
Tell them I feel
Like I'm about to die
Any second
Make me wait an hour
Take my temperature
Take my blood
Give me an EKG
Order some tests
Filling tubes with bits
And pieces of me
Get a specialist
Wants to know
If mental illness
Runs in my family
I tell him yes
But it ran out
Before I was born
Wants to know if I
Have hallucinations
I want to know
If he might be one
Asks if I hear voices
I tell him yes
I hear his
But I can't believe
What he's saying
Tells me I'm OK
Tells me I'm going
To die anyway
Maybe not today
Or tomorrow
But sooner
Or later
Sends me home
Sends me a bill
